Reliability. New systems are electronic as opposed to mechanical, they take advantage of many technology breakthroughs of the past decades, fast and small microprocessors, Flash memory, smaller footprints, and fewer mechanical or moving parts. They allow for more features and benefits without taking the costs out of the realistic realm. Quiet Relays. Yes! The new relays are quiet. The soft click of the new relays can only be heard if standing right next to the lighting control panel. Stuck Switch Protection. All new systems offer stuck switch protection. Never again will there be the worry of one stuck switch bringing the whole system down like systems of the past. Manageability. A new system is miles ahead of an existing system in the terms of wire management. The relays and transformers are built right on circuit boards. All wires will be connected to terminal strips on the circuit board. This will eliminate the need for wire nuts and wiring that looks like “spaghetti!” More Features. When upgrading, a variety of features are available that were not even imagined by the original creators of Touchplate. Grouping, timing, dimming, sequencing, the ability to set scenes, master on/master off, and control via the internet are some of the many advantages of more efficient and enjoyable lighting control. Cost Effectiveness. Believe it or not, it is actually less expensive to purchase new relay boards than it is to purchase the replacement components.
